Red Acne Marks

Red acne marks always seem to appear at the worst moment (i.e., hours of the day before a date or an interview). If you wait, these marks will subside in two to three days, but often you will want to reduce the redness as soon as possible.

Whatever you do, don't pick or squeeze acne as this will irritate the skin and make the inflammation even worse.

A quick fix the night before is to apply a small amount of toothpaste to the spot(s) and leave it on it overnight and wash it off in the morning. This should reduce the red acne marks and swelling. Toothpaste also stops oil accumulating in the pores and assists faster healing.

In addition, cutting a tomato in half and rubbing the cut side over the face gently and leaving it there for 15 minutes can also help as this will tighten up the pores and minimize redness.

If you're open to using products other than natural ones, ointments with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can help get rid of redness, but these type of products should only be used if prescribed or recommended by your doctor.
